Morning Routine

The babes are sleeping on the dining room table. They get changed on the dining room table. The dining room is their temporary room. It's easier to keep them near us during the day to hear when they need us. At night, either the night doula, Vikki, or one of us, can be near them for their feedings and changes, while the other one of us can shut the doors to the hallway and bedroom to get a few hours of sound sleep.

The kitchen counters have been taken over by the bottle warmer, the cleaned bottles, and the bottles that are drying.

One of the most precious moments that I enjoy is when we take them out of their swaddle and their sleep sacks. They just stretch stretch stretch all around the bassinet and even on the changing table. I love their little faces, their puckered lips, the arched back, the pulled in legs, and their tiny arms reaching for the sky. I love to sit and watch them during these first few moments. Sometimes they cry when we wake them, and sometimes they are still very sleepy. This day, Sutter let out a little cry when he was ready to wake up.

I love these little moments.
